27 Views of Hillsborough:A Southern Town in Prose & Poetry
Reading and book signing Orange County Main Library
Historic Hillsborough is chock-a-block full of writers and poets. It’s a phenomenon that draws attention to the small North Carolina hometown, which provides both subject and backdrop for a lot of their work. Hillsborough based Eno Publishers is publishing a volume of local writers writing about their town in history, fiction, journalism. poems, and essays. The collection presents a rich picture of life in a southern town. Included are such nationally known writers as Michael Malone, Lee Smith, Allan Gurganus, David Payne, Jill McCorkle, Hal Crowther, Craig Nova, Randall Kenan, and many others The cover design is by Daniel Wallace. The book is in part supported by grants from the Mry Duke Biddle Foundation and the Orange County Arts Commission.
Friends of the Orange County Public Library, Purple Crow Books, and Eno Publishers will host the launch of 27 Views of Hillsborough on Saturday, April 24 at 3 P.M. Many of the authors will be on-hand to sign copies of the book and to talk about their contributions to the collection. This event marks a fortunate confluence of interests that celebrate our local literary resources and Hillsborough’s unique place in the American literary landscape.
